Gadgets & Things I have found useful

Beaded Food Covers

Picture
Because I have seen the sun twice in the last week and my thoughts have turned to summer & jam making (see latest blog http://www.dietinterventionandautism.com/1/post/2013/04/thinking-of-summer.html ) , I have been reminded of these great little thingames for summer.

They are a fine net which are weighted down by pretty beads around the outside, so they don't fly away in a breeze.

The largest size (33cm) is perfect for covering mixing bowls if you get called away (as I often am). Or platefuls of goodies on a picnic.

The boys found the smallest size (15cm) ideal during the summer to cover their cups, so wasps & flies didn't dive in & do the backstroke in their drinks. But I wouldn't recommend this size for this use, if your child is likely to pick or bite the beads off.

The medium sized one (23cm) is the size to cover a side plate or breakfast or a soup bowl.

The only reason it occurs to me to post this now, is because Lakeland only stock them for a short-time each year, as I found out to my dismay when I wanted to stock up on some more. They have just come back into stock (April).
Other places may stock them but I couldn't find any in my hour of need :(
