Additional Dietary Information

This section of the site is devoted to articles I have researched & written that contain information about food.

I hope that as well as being of general interest, they will help those following the diet with their children, to tweek the diet further (where/if necessary) to help their child/ren even more.

Please remember that if you are changing aspects of your childs diet to do so slowly and logically.

Once you have the basic diet in place (removal of all gluten, dairy, artificial sugars & DGa - if you need help with this then please go to www.respectrum.co.uk for advice and support) and you have a base line for your child, then and only then can additional foods be looked at.

One food removed
or one new food added at a time - with several weeks left before removing or adding a new food.
If you don't do one thing at a time with a long gap inbetween each change, how will you know if the food makes a difference?
Your poor child could yo-yo between withdrawals and food 'highs' causing them great distress and it would never allow you to gain a true picture of what affects them negatively or positively.
As tempting as it might be to try and do everything all at once - it just doesn't work - you will have to try and trust me on this one - what it will do long term is to slow you down, trying to unravel what you think might have happened but you are not sure as too much was going on at the time.
To get the diet right for your child will take time and by time I mean years.
But it is worth slogging away at it - the rewards are amazing.
